Ontario dominates Game 1 with impressive 32-7 victory

2015-07-06

The running back tandem Demar Ramdsden & Jacob Savoni could not be stopped as Ontario cruises to a 32-7 win. Game 2 takes place Thursday night as Ontario takes on defending champs, QBFL.

From the opening kickoff, Ontario quickly showed they had not come as tourists to the South Shore of Quebec. Ontario opened up the score with some great option play between Essex  Ravens Jacob Savoni (# 6) and Colton Allen (# 10). Ontario marched down the field with dominance and took the first lead of the game, 6-0.

The representatives of the national capital, however, have quickly adjusted to the option game, trying different variations blitz to eliminate Ontario alternatives. They thus limited opposing gains on their next possession, even forcing a change of possession because of a missed 4th down attempt.

With a few seconds left in the half, we expected that teams retreat to their locker room with the score. But the Ontario team has decided otherwise.

Once again, Jacob Savoni (# 6) stood out by the pass this time. At 23 seconds of the half, Team Ontario regained control of the game with a 14-7 two-point conversion.

For their part, Team Ontario was content to be opportunistic, marking another major on a touchdown pass of 32 yards to Colton Allen (# 10) to Dave Johnson (# 15) . Ontario distanced istself from RSQ 20-7 to the end of the third quarter.

With the clock ticking away, Offensive Coordinator Mike Comeau (York Lions) decided to switch up the running game and went with 5'11, 200lbs running back Demar Ramsden (# 25) who manhandled Quebec's defensive front.

Team Ontario was dominant, keeping possession of the ball 31 minutes 48 thanks in part to physical offensive line. Special mention to Nolan Cole (# 61) which was specifically added as a player of the game in addition to players already named. A first in 15 years.

This is the mark of 32-7 that Team Ontario signs a victory against RSQ. They will face the defending champions QBFL their next match next Thursday.
