U17 (2000-2001)

HEAD COACH: Jon Binns - Essex Ravens

Jon Binns is currently the Head Coach of the Atom Essex Ravens. Along with coaching, Binns is also the Vice President of the Essex Ravens.As well, Binns is currently Head Coach & Defensive Coordinator at Brennan High School. Binns was also the Special Teams Coordinator for the Windsor Lancers in 2014. Binns has also spent time with the Windsor AKO Fratmen as Special Teams Coordinator, as well as Catholic Central Secondary School as Defensive Coordinator.

OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR: Alex Vertullo - Queens Gaels 

Alex Vertullo is currently the Offensive Coordinator & Quarterbacks Coach for the Queens Gaels. Before his time with Queens, Vertullo spent a year with the University of Montreal as an Offensive Assistant. Vertullo has also spent time in CEGEP with Andre Grasset Cegep as a Receiver & Quarterback Coach. Vertullo graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Business and Sport Studies from Bishops University. 

DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR: Anthony Allwood - McMaster Marauders



Anthony Allwood is currently a Special Teams Assistant with the McMaster Marauders. As well, Allwood is currently the Defensive Coordinator for the Junior Varsity Hamilton Hurricanes. Before his time with McMaster, Allwood was the Defensive Coordinator for the BCI Mustangs, a position he has held since 2010. Before is time with the Hurricanes, Allwood spent six seasons with the Brantford Bison's in a number of roles, most notably, Head Coach & Defensive Coordinator of the Junior Varsity program in 2013. Allwood brings a wealth of experience and championship pedigree to the 2015 Spalding Cup Staff. 

OFFENSIVE ASSISTANT: Brandon Yohnicki


 

Brandon Yohnicki is currently the Offensive Line Coach of the Atom London Junior Mustangs. Before his time with the Junior Mustangs,  Yohnicki spent 4 years with the London Beefeaters as the Offensive Line Coach. Yohnicki played for Wayne State University NCAA DIV 2 and then transferred to the University of Windsor where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. Yohnicki has both coached and played professionally abroad for the Herlev Rebels and Odense Swans of Denmark and the Coventry Jets of England.

OFFENSIVE ASSISTANT: Kyle Cole - Laurier Golden Hawks



Kyle Cole is currently an Assistant Special Teams & Defensive Backs Coach for the Laurier Golden Hawks. As well, Cole is currently the Special Teams Coordinator & Running Backs Coach for the Cambridge Lions of the OVFL. Before his time with Laurier, Cole was the Running Backs & Special Teams Coach for Bellrose Composite High School in Alberta. As well, Cole spent a year coaching in the CJFL with the Brampton Bears as Defensive Backs & Special Teams Coach. 

DEFENSIVE ASSISTANT: Zak Colangelo - York Lions



Zak Colangelo is currently the Defensive Backs Coach for the York Lions. As well, Colangelo is currently the York Simcoe Buc's Defensive Coordinator. Before his time with the York Lions, Colangelo was the Defensive Coordinator for the Loyola Hawks, winning a Championship in 2011. As well, Colangelo has spent time with the Halton Cowboys as a Head Coach & Defensive Coordinator. 

DEFENSIVE ASSISTANT: Alexandre Laponte - Cornwall Wildcats



Alexandre Laponte is currently Special Teams Coordinator & Linebackers Coach for the Cornwall Wildcats. As well, Laponte is currently the Special Teams Coordinator & Linebackers Coach for the College Bourget Voltigeurs. Before his time coaching, Laponte player for the Ottawa Gee Gee's from 2011-2015. 


U15 (2002-2003)

HEAD COACH: Lester Trotman - Metro Toronto Wildcats

Lester is currently Head Coach of the Bantam Metro Toronto Wildcats. Before his time with the Wildcats, Trotman was Head Coach with the Brampton Bulldogs for various age groups for the last 7 years. As well, Trotman was on the U15 Team Ontario International Bowl coaching staff. Trotman brings a lot of experience to the position.

OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR: Wayne Jacobs



Wayne had a very successful football career from quarterbacking the Ottawa Sooners, University of Texas El Paso (Div 1, NCAA) and University of Ottawa Gee Gees, to playing semi professional ball in Europe, until beginning his coaching career in 1999. Wayne coached throughout the European league before coming back home and coaching for local clubs.

DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR: Dave Blanch - Brampton Bulldogs

Dave Blanch has most recently coached for 13 years as part of the Brampton Bulldog organization at all age levels.  He spent two years coaching at Clarkson Secondary School and was a Graduate Assistant at University Toronto after playing for the Blues from 87-91 where he was Team Captain for three years and an OUAA all-star.  Blanch is a Physical Health Education Graduate and has worked in public education for over 22 years.

OFFENSIVE ASSISTANT: Garry Rusyn - Nepean Eagles



Gary Rusyn is currently assistant offensive coordinator with the Nepean Eagles Midget program. Before his time with the Eagles, Gary was Offensive coordinator of the Montreal Blitz of the IWFL, as well coached Junior and Midget with the Greenfield Park Packers. Before his time coaching, Gary played for the Concordia Stingers and Semi-Pro with the Montreal Titans.

OFFENSIVE ASSISTANT: Rob Webb - Nepean Eagles



Rob joined the Nepean Redskins as a coach in 1993 and became a valued member in the success of the Nepean Football Club. Rob brings with him over 25 years of coaching experience and has been as part of successful teams such as the Canadian National U17 Champions in 2004, NCAFA Midget Champions 2003, 2005 and the Ottawa Sooners in 2015.  Rob also has coached the 2015 & 2016 AIA All-Star game at Carleton University. Rob is a level 2 certified coach with NCCP, is trained in safe contact, first responder - first aid & equipment maintenance. 

DEFENSIVE ASSISTANT: Jesse Card - Bell Warriors



Jesse started his playing career in Ottawa after his family moved from Winnipeg in 1992. Joining the Bell Warriors of The National Capital Amateur Football Association, Jesse went on to play 7 years with the Warriors program before joining the Myers Riders OVFL Varsity program under leadership of the late, great Bob Stephen. In 2002 Jesse walked on, un-recruited, to the McMaster Marauders University Football program and had a successful 5 year career. Upon graduation, Jesse led the Marauders with the All-Time Career Interception record, had captured two Yates Cups, was nominated a three - time OUA 1st team All-Star at three different positions in the defensive secondary, and was 1 of 52 players selected to test at the 2007 CFL Evaluation camp in Toronto. Going Un-drafted in 2007, Jesse played a season in Oulu, Finland for the semi-pro team The Northern Lights as a Wide Receiver and Free Safety. Jesse now resides in Ottawa and is a defensive back coach for The Bell Warriors Bantam program and owns House Edge Media, an advertising firm that specializes in Video Production and Animation. 

DEFENSIVE ASSISTANT: Heath Chantler - Essex Ravens



Heath has been coaching for over 25 years at the High School and Community (Essex Ravens) levels.  He is a Level 2 NCCP certified coach who also is certified in Safe Contact.  Heath is currently entering his 5th season as HC of the Essex Ravens Bantam team, compiling a 27-6 record. Heath has won a number of coaching awards, notably 2014 OFA Minor Football Coach of the Year and t Ross Spettigue Award Winner in 2012.  Heath brings a tremendous amount of knowledge to the U15 team.
