Day 1 can be summed up with one word: Long. Both teams started the International Bowl week with early flights out of Toronto & Ottawa. After arriving in Arlington, prep for Team USA quickly began. Meetings began at 3pm and by 8pm, practices for both teams were underway.

For Team Ontario U17 (’99-’00), they are led by long time Team Ontario Head Coach & Current Canada Cup Head Coach Glen Mills (Essex Ravens). Coach Mills had this to say about Day 1 Practice, “I felt Day 1 went incredibly well considering the long day that these young men had. They have handle everything really well considering we were on the field until 10pm. We are really pleased as a coaching staff on how the day went.” When discussing Day 2 Prep, Coach Mills expressed that he wants his players to continue to work hard and continue to learn the systems and schemes.

First Year Head Coach of Team Ontario U18 (’98) Kirby Camplin (Cornwall Wildcats | Carleton Ravens) was also pleased with how Day 1 went. “I thought we had a good practice. We certainly accomplished a lot. Bringing together a bunch of players that have never played together there will always have some growing pains but we are moving in the right direction.” As far as how Day 2 will go, Coach Camplin expressed ensuring players are prepared for Wednesdays Scrimmage verse Team USA.

Returning Quarterback for Team Ontario U18 Alex Douglas (Cambridge, ON) had this to say on Day 1. “By the end of practice offence was clicking and we had the ball moving, which was great to see for Day 1.”

Day 2 looks to be a full day of meetings as both teams look to prepare for Wednesdays Scrimmage. Practice is scheduled for 1pm @ Maverick Stadium.
