International Bowl Coaching Staff

U18 (1998)

HEAD COACH & DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR: Dwayne Cameron - Laurier Golden Hawks

Dwayne Cameron is currently the Special Teams & Recruiting Coordinator and Defensive Backs Coach for the Laurier Golden Hawks. Cameron has been with the Golden Hawks since 2004 in various roles and was part of the coaching staff on the 2005 Vanier Cup winning team.

OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR: Tom Flaxman - Western Mustangs

Tom Flaxman is currently an asisstant coach for the Western Mustangs. Previously, Flaxman was the Offensive Coordinator for Toronto Varsity Blues, as well as the Acadia Axemen that won the Atlantic title in 2011.  In addition, Flaxman has been a coach with the OVFL Mississauga Warriors since 2004, winning 3 championships.  Flaxman was a player for Team Ontario on the gold medal winning teams in 2002 & 2003. 

SPECIAL TEAMS COORDINATOR & OFFENSIVE ASSISTANT: Steve Sumarah - Carleton Ravens


Steve Sumarah is currently the Head Coach of the Carleton Ravens. Prior to joining the Ravens, Sumarah was the Head Coach of the St. Mary’s Huskies achieving an impressive 35-12 (.745 winning percentage) during his six year tenure. He led the team to four consecutive AUS titles, a Uteck Bowl Championship and trip to the Vanier Cup in 2007. Sumarah was AUS coach of the year three years in a row and CIS coach of the year in 2009. 

OFFENSIVE ASSISTANT: Michael MacDonald - Guelph Gryphons

Coach MacDonald is entering his fifth year coaching the Offensive Line at the University of Guelph.  He has also had six years coaching experience as the Offensive Line Coach at Notre Dame High School in Burlington, Ontario and fourteen years coaching in the Burlington Stampeder Rep Program as a Head Coach and Offensive Line coach. He has served as an Oline coach for Team Ontario and many All Star teams.   Coach MacDonald believes in preparation, attention to detail, intensity and commitment. Football is a game of strategy, skill, self-sacrifice and passion. He believes these are the skill sets needed to succeed on the football field as well as in the classroom and the working world. He is known as a strong motivator and teacher.

DEFENSIVE ASSISTANT: Darrell Adams - Carleton Ravens

Darrell Adams is currently the Strength & Conditioning Coordinator and Defensive Line Coach for the Carleton Ravens. Prior to joining the Ravens, Adams coached with the Hamilton Tiger Cats in 2011/2012 and coordinated the defense for the Hamilton Hurricanes who became the national runner-up and Ontario champions in 2011. Adams played professionally for the Hamilton Tiger Cats and New York Jets.

DEFENSIVE ASSISTANT: Adam Grandy - Guelph Gryphons

Adam Grandy is currently the Linebacker Coach and Assistant Defensive Coordinator for the Guelph Gryphons. Grandy is the Head Coach of the Varsity Burlington Stampeders and is also an assistant coach at M.M. Robinson High School in Burlington. Grandy was the Defensive Coordinator of the U19 Team Ontario Selects that played in Austin, Texas in February 2013.

DEFENSIVE ASSISTANT: Sean Hall - Carleton Ravens

Sean Hall is currently the Defensive Back Coach & Academic Facilitator for the Carleton Ravens. Prior to joining the Ravens, Hall spent 2 seasons with Acadia Axemen. Prior to Acadia, Hall spent 11 seasons with the Ottawa Gee Gees where he served as the teams Defensive Coordinator, Linebacker and Defensive Back coach. 

U17 (1999-2000)

HEAD COACH: Ryan Clutterbuck - London Beefeaters

Clutterbuck will be making his second trip with Team Ontario, and first time in the International Bowl. Clutterbuck was also the Head Coach of Team Ontario U17 that competed in the 2014 Spalding Cup in Montreal, Quebec. Currently Clutterbuck is the Offensive Coordinator for the London Beefeaters of the CJFL, winning the Ontario Football Conference Championship in 2012. Clutterbuck is also the Wide Receiver coach for the London Junior Mustangs, winning an OVFL Championship in 2012. Also, Clutterbuck coaches at his alma mattar, the University of Western Mustangs as a Assitant Wide Receiver Coach.

OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR: Alex Derma - Guelph Gryphons

Alex Derma is currently an assistant coach with the Guelph Gryphons. Alex returns for his sixth season to work with the Gryphon Show team members in preparation for each weekly opponent. Alex played for four years at John F. Ross as a WR before joining the University of Waterloo football team. He was also selected to play for Team Ontario U21 and represent them as Captain for a summer tour in Europe. Alex currently coaches high school football and has gained International coaching experience as an Offensive Coordinator for both the Team Ontario U15 and U17 Selects playing against the United States. He brings thirteen years of coaching experience and a ton of energy which he uses to keep the Gryphons motivated. Alex teaches Wood working and Construction at Elmira District High School.

DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR: Kirby Camplin - Carleton Ravens

Kirby Camplin is currently an assistant coach with the Carleton Ravens. Kirby is also currently the Head Coach of the Cornwall Wildcats of the OVFL. in 2013, Kirby was the Linebacker Coach for Team Ontario Selects U19 that travelled to Austin, Texas. Kirby believes in teaching the fundamentals of football first and formost, teaching players how to play the game and their position is the first and most important part of the job. 

OFFENSIVE ASSISTANT: Bob Milne - Guelph Varsity Gryphons / John F. Ross Royals

Bob Milne is currently the Offensive Coordinator for the Guelph varsity Gryphons of the OFC as well as John F Ross High School in Guelph. Prior to this Coach Milne has been the OC of the Tri-City Outlaws of the NFC, OC Guelph Varsity Gryphons of the OFC and Head Coach of Centennial High School Guelph. Coach Milne brings 30 years of Football experience at multiple levels and positions.

OFFENSIVE ASSISTANT: Irv Daymond - Laurier Golden Hawks

Irv Daymond is currently the Offensive Line Coach for the Wilfred Laurier Golden Hawks. Prior to joining Laurier, Daymond was the Offensive Line Coach for McGill University in Quebec and previous to that was the Offensive Line Coach for the Ottawa Gee-Gees. Daymond has also been the Offensive Line Coach for Team Ontario East.

DEFENSIVE ASSISTANT: Brian Cluff - Guelph Gryphons

The 2014 season will mark Coach Cluff’s 30th year of University Football; 29 with the Gryphon Football Program (24 years as a coach and 5 years as a player with the Gryphons). Coach Cluff will once again be coaching the Gryphon Defensive Line. In 2013, the Gryphon Defense lead the OUA in run defense and was also ranked third in the country in total QB sacks with 34. Brian has also coached the defensive line with Team Ontario at the Canada Cup and in 2013 Coach Cluff was in Texas coaching the defensive line for Team Ontario Selects vs. Team USA in the International Bowl.

DEFENSIVE ASSISTANT: Dave Smith

Dave Smith returns for his second year with Team Ontario at the International Bowl. Coach Smith was the Head Coach of the Junior Varsity Brampton Bulldogs of the OVFL. Coach Smith was the Head Coach of the Bantam Brampton Bulldogs that won the OVFL Championship in 2012. Coach Smith has also coached in American Football tournaments winning the championship (Cleveland 2008 – Head Coach Bantam & North Carolina 2009 – Assistant Head Coach Junior Varsity)
